Spiritual Care Services
Rogers Memorial Hospital believes that healing involves the whole person – mind, body and spirit. As a result, Rogers Memorial Hospital offers supportive spiritual care resources developed specifically to assess and address the spiritual needs of our patients.
The Spiritual Care Department is funded 100% by the Rogers Memorial Hospital Foundation. Since the program began in 2005, it has expanded several times to meet the growing number of requests for services from patients and medical staff. As the demands for spiritual care continue to increase, so does our need for staff time and resources. Financial gifts will help us to fulfill these heartfelt requests.
Here are some facts about the spiritual care program:
- The department consists of two part-time chaplains and one full-time Spiritual Care Coordinator.
- Spiritual care staff leads 13 weekly spiritual reflection groups at Rogers locations in Milwaukee, Delafield and Oconomowoc.
- Between 2010-2011, spiritual care chaplains facilitated over 4,300 patient contacts.
- 85% of patients requesting spiritual care services state that they come from or seek to access a Christian belief system.
- Rogers Memorial serves patients from all faith backgrounds and worldviews.
- The spiritual care staff collaborates with the treatment teams for the timing and availability of resources as a part of the multi-disciplinary approach offered at Rogers Memorial Hospital.
In addition, the Spiritual Care Department makes the following resources available (depending on the patient's treatment goals, program and medical status):
- Spiritual care reflection groups
- One-to-one consultations with a chaplain
- Chapel, including a spiritual resource library (Milwaukee and Oconomowoc)
- On-site ecumenical worship services (Easter and Christmas)
- Transportation to churches for worship (in selected programs)
- On-site one-to-one sessions with community clergy
Since the Spiritual Care Department is funded 100% by the Foundation, your gifts have a huge impact on patients requesting spiritual care resources to help in their recovery process. If your heart leads you in this direction, please consider making a donation to the spiritual care program. Every gift is greatly appreciated and makes a difference.
“Spirituality group is very important to me. My eating disorder has distanced me from God. I feel so overwhelmed, anxious and fearful most of the time and with help of the Chaplain, I can once again focus on God when I’m here. I wouldn’t want to be in treatment without it.”
“Spirituality group has saved me. I could not recover from the illness without the spiritual aspect of my treatment. It is a different kind of therapy. I believe it saves lives!!”
“The spirituality group has been very helpful to me. It has assisted me in looking at forgiveness, shame, guilt and other issues I have been struggling with.”
